Time off for Reservists
An employee who joins one of the Reserve Forces - the Territorial Army, Royal Naval Reserve, Royal Marines Reserve or Royal Auxiliary Air Force - may be mobilised at any time to be used on full-time operations. They will also have to attend regular training.
- There is no right to time off for mobilisation, although you could specifically allow it. There are instead special rules on re-employing reservists.
- You are not obliged to continue paying a reservist who has been mobilised and is absent from the workplace.
- There is no right to paid or unpaid leave for training reservists. Some employer give additional (paid or unpaid) leave for training but employees can be required to use their existing holiday entitlement.
