You cannot dismiss an employee or subject them to a detriment because they are on jury service. You can ask an employee to apply for excusal from jury service (or for this to be deferred) in certain circumstances.
Although you don't need to pay employees during jury service, some employers choose to make certain payments. Your policy should be clear about how much you will pay and for how long. It should also set out what you expect from employees during jury service, for example that they are expected to return to work if they are excused early from jury service.
