There is no statutory entitlement to time off on a bank or public holiday. Whether a worker is required to work on a public holiday (and what they will be paid for doing so) depends on what the contract says. Public holidays can count towards the total 5.6 weeks’ statutory annual leave entitlement provided they are paid.
