Related Short-Term Absence
If an unacceptable level of short-term absences is caused by an underlying medical problem, or is for related reasons, do not go down the disciplinary route. Instead, follow the steps set out in this section: get confirmation on the reason for the absences; hold absence management meetings; issue warnings; consider adjustments for disabled employees; and follow a fair dismissal procedure.
