More and more HR managers are using social media to help with the recruitment process with around one in four admitting to having rejected candidates due to their social media profile. It is a hugely useful tool, giving employers wide exposure to a range of candidates at low cost. However, there is a potential discrimination risk if this limits the pool of potential applicants or if you reject someone because of a protected characteristic you might only know about because of what you have seen on social media.
