It is important for an offer of employment to expressly refer to any conditions attached to it. Commonly, an offer is made subject to receipt of satisfactory references; confirmation that the employee is free to work in the UK or has an appropriate work permit/immigration approval; receipt of a satisfactory medical report or questionnaire; confirmation that the employee holds the qualifications they claim to have; and receipt of background checks required professionally or due to the nature of the job.
