Workplace testing: guidance for employers

Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) guidance for employers who may wish to test employees for coronavirus (COVID-19) or ask them for their test results sets out: the lawful basis for such testing; compliance with data protection laws; ensuring that too much data is not collected; communicating with staff; disclosing information with third parties; employees' information rights; and temperature checks. An additional document, "The ICO's regulatory approach during the coronavirus public health emergency" covers engagement with the public and organisations, regulatory action, and the role of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
