White man to join police after victory in discrimination case

In what is described as the first reported case of its kind in the UK, a potential police recruit who was rejected by Cheshire Constabulary because he is a white heterosexual male will now join the force after it was found guilty of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, race and sex at an employment tribunal. Cheshire police were found to have adopted a policy of positive action to encourage the recruitment of black officers to aid diversity in a discriminatory way.
