Wages Board delays farmworker pay review

The Scottish Agricultural Wages Board has decided to delay its annual wage negotiations until later in the year in order to align it with the new time frame for the National Minimum Wage and National Living wage changes. It means a new Agricultural Wages Order will be published in April 2017. However, both employers and employees have been reminded that the minimum rate of pay for agricultural workers cannot fall below either the NMW or the NLW. While both the Scottish Land and Estates and NFU Scotland welcomed the decision to delay negotiations, they also reiterated their view that the Board should be abolished.
