UK wage plan "not a Living Wage"

The Scottish Government has written to the Low Pay Commission (LPC) as part of the LPC's consultation on a national living wage, expressing disappointment at the plans. It argues: the phrase "national living wage" is in itself a misappropriation of the term; the plan discriminates against under 25s; further inequalities will be brought into the national minimum wage structure; and payment of the current living wage rate of £7.85 should be a priority.
