Tribunal procedure: extension of time for dyslexic employee - Lowry Beck Services Ltd v Brophy [CA] 12.12.19 (Unreported)

An employment tribunal had not erred in finding that out-of-time claims for unfair and wrongful dismissal by a dyslexic employee who relied on his brother for help with official matters should be extended under the Employment Rights Act 1996 s.111. It had been reasonable for the tribunal to find that the dismissal had taken place when it was communicated to him in a formal letter, and the terms of the letter had not been so ambiguous as to have made it unreasonable for him or his brother not to have sought further advice on the effective date of his termination.
