Trade Union Act 2016: Consultation on the Certification Officer's enforcement powers
A Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy consultation seeks views on proposals for the implementation of the Trade Union Act 2016 s.19, which gives the Certification Officer the power to impose financial penalties on unions and employer associations for non-compliance. It seeks comments on the setting of the level of penalty by type of obligation breached; the maximum levels; and plans to reduce the maxima by 50% for those whose membership is less than 100,000.
