The future of working practices in Scotland - Second Report of Session 2017-19. HC Paper No.449

A Scottish Affairs Committee report welcomes the findings of the Taylor Review published in 2017, but calls on the Government to improve employment rights and provide robust mechanisms for protecting workers in a rapidly evolving work environment, where definitions of employment status have become blurred, which has resulted in some employers avoiding their obligations to their employees. Recommendations include: extending the right to a written statement of terms and conditions to all workers; clarifying employment status in primary legislation; and working with trade unions to establish the current extent of blacklisting.
