Secretary quit firm after 50th birthday card 'insult'
A legal secretary who sued her firm for age discrimination after she was given a 50th birthday card has lost her case at an employment tribunal. Colleagues of Hilary Munro sent her a birthday card in the post as she was on annual leave. She felt "humiliated and insulted", and said that she was a private person who did not wish to share personal information with workmates. A receptionist at Sampson Coward LLP in Salisbury, Wiltshire, kept a calendar with staff birthdays and it was usual for everyone to sign a card.Link to article on Nexis
