Redundant former workers of reborn firm win pay battle
An employment tribunal has ruled that 24 former workers made redundant by costs firm Just Costs Solicitors are entitled to three months' pay on account of the firm's unlawful handling of the redundancy process, namely by failing to comply with the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 s.188 to consult appropriate representatives of the employees about the dismissal. The company is in administration and it is likely that the payments will be funded by the taxpayer.
