Pimlico Plumbers Ltd and another v Smith [SupCrt EW] 13.06.18
The Supreme Court considered whether a plumber engaged as an independent contractor was required to perform his work for a company personally, when he had a limited right to substitute another company operative in his place. It found that the dominant feature of the contract remained personal performance, and he therefore fell within the definition of a "worker" in the Employment Rights Act 1996 s.230(3)(b).
