Manager awarded £40,000 after being sacked over husband-hotel owner row

A hotel manager who was dismissed because of an argument between her boss and her husband has been awarded almost £40,000 for unfair dismissal. Moira Byers had worked at Comlongan Castle, Dumfries, for 13 years when she was suspended and warned she had 48 hours to "sort matters" with her husband, who was locked in a land dispute with owner Philip Ptolomey.
