Hospitality workers hit by service charge exclusion in support scheme

Tens of thousands face 50% pay cut during coronavirus crisis due to HMRC’s decision. HM Revenue & Customs said that service charge would be classified as a “discretionary bonus” which, along with cash tips and commission, are excluded from the employee support scheme.
