Gig economy worker's holiday pay claim fails

A heating engineer who won a claim in Pimlico Plumbers Ltd v Smith (SC) after working for the firm for six years until 2011, when it was established that he was a worker and not self-employed, has lost out in his attempt to claim £74,000 in holiday pay as a result after the employment tribunal in Croydon ruled that he had not filed his holiday pay claim quickly enough.
