Gig economy companies accused of misleading their employees

Matthew Taylor, head of a government review of employment practices in the gig economy, has asserted that gig economy companies such as Uber are deliberately misleading their workers in an attempt to strengthen the case against reform of employment rights, leading them to believe that there was a trade-off between flexibility and job protection. He plans to define the difference between worker status and self-employed status to help companies clarify their business models.
