EHRC report shows disabled workers continue to be disadvantaged
A recent report from the Equality and Human Rights Commission has found that disabled people continue to be put at a disadvantage in the workplace, with employers often unsure of who is disabled and what support disabled workers might need.
The report, amongst other things, recommends that employers should consider what support and adjustments are needed from the start of the employment relationship (through discussions led by managers and/or by using a questionnaire for all new recruits). Also, employers should consider offering flexible working as an option for disabled workers.
The report, “A Perfect Partnership”, includes case examples from employers and individuals about what is working well and what would work better and can be accessed here.
