Deliveroo couriers are not workers, rules CAC

Deliveroo has won a key ruling from the Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) which decided it did not have to pay the minimum wage or holiday pay. In a setback for the rights of workers in the gig economy, the CAC said the courier company's delivery riders were self-employed contractors because they had the right to allocate someone else to do the job for them. The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain brought the claim, which has been seen as a test case for others.
