Delay to immigration White Paper criticised by businesses

Josh Hardie, deputy director general of the CBI, has said that businesses will be "hugely frustrated" by the Government's decision to delay a White Paper, originally scheduled to be published in Summer 2017, relating to its plans for the UK's post-Brexit immigration system. It is understood that the key document will now not be released until after the transition deal is done. It also means a Brexit immigration bill will not reach the statute book before the registration of the 3 million EU nationals already living and working in the UK begins in autumn 2018.
