Costs order against poorly off applicant - EAT upholds £10,000 costs order against claimant "in dire straits"

In Chadburn v Bassetlaw Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the Employment Appeal Tribunal has upheld a costs order of £10,000 against a claimant, despite her current inability to pay. She had pursued a number of discrimination claims against her former employer, unnecessarily extending the length of the hearing by making allegations she knew to be false.
