Brexit effect fears prompt inquiry into UK gender laws

In light of fears that a post-Brexit move towards a lower regulation economy could see protections lost almost inadvertently amid wider changes, retired High Court judge Dame Laura Cox is to lead an inquiry into the UK's gender discrimination laws. The nine-month inquiry by the Fawcett Society seeks to prompt a more "fundamental rethink" and will focus on measures to guarantee equal pay, protection for part-time workers and during pregnancy, and combating intersectional discrimination, where someone faces potential disadvantage for not just their gender but another area.
