Amber Rudd defends proposal to make firms reveal foreign staff numbers

The Secretary of State for the Home Department Amber Rudd has explained her proposals to require companies to publish the number of international staff they employ. She has set out a consultation paper on how to encourage businesses to hire British staff. It is understood the proposals will apply to non-EU workers initially but could be extended to all non-British workers after Brexit. The proposals have been criticised by several high-profile business leaders, including the British Chambers of Commerce.
