Reference for a preliminary ruling — Social policy — Directive 2006/54/EC — Equal treatment for male and female workers — Additional leave accorded by collective agreement after the statutory period of maternity leave — No right to the additional leave for male workers — Provisions concerning the protection of women, particularly as regards pregnancy and maternity. OPINION that, to fall within the Equal Treatment Directive art.28(1), an additional period of leave after the statutory period of maternity leave, reserved under national law for female workers only, must be genuinely connected with the joint objective of establishing protective measures related to the biological condition of the woman after birth and her special relationship with the child.Link to Opinion
