Retirement Ages

Although there is no longer a default retirement age, you can still use a fixed retirement age – provided it can be objectively justified. Even if you don’t have a fixed retirement age, employees can be retired on a case by case basis – but again only if this can be justified.

As the objective justification test is a difficult test to meet, many employers allow employees to continue to work until they voluntarily retire or are dismissed for another reason such as capability.
