Effective Resignation

A resignation may be communicated verbally, in writing or (sometimes) by the employee’s conduct. It will be effective if the termination date is known.

The minimum statutory notice of termination to be given by an employee with at least one month's continuous employment is one week. The contract of employment can specify a longer period and often requires notice to be in writing.
