Shared Parental Pay: Adopter 2
During shared parental leave, an adopter’s partner is not entitled to their normal pay (unless you provide for this in your policy or the employee’s contract) but may qualify for statutory shared parental pay (ShPP). Not all employees who are entitled to shared parental leave will qualify for ShPP as the eligibility criteria are slightly different. For ShPP to be available, the primary adopter must curtail their entitlement to statutory adoption pay. This creates weeks of ShPP which can be claimed by either the primary adopter or adopter’s partner if they are eligible.
