Maternity Leave: Start and End Dates
In most cases, an employee’s maternity leave will start on her chosen date, as notified by her. However, there are exceptions, such as when a child is born early. Whilst 52 weeks’ statutory maternity leave is available to employees, once an employee has taken compulsory maternity leave, she can choose to return at any time, so long as she complies with certain notice requirements.
