Paternity Pay: Duration & Dates
If an employee is eligible for statutory paternity pay (SPP) you should start paying this on the same day as their paternity leave starts. An employee can choose this start date from a range of options. You should pay SPP for either one or two weeks depending on the length of leave an employee has opted to take, but in some circumstances, such as where the employee returns to work, you will need to stop paying SPP earlier.
