Parental Leave: Enhance/Reduce

Some employers enhance parental leave rights by, for example, allowing more than four weeks’ leave per child to be taken each year or providing full or part salary during leave. On the other hand, you can implement a scheme that is, in some limited respects, less favourable to employees than the default statutory scheme. You can, for example, reduce the amount of leave available each year to less than four weeks, or specify circumstances which automatically allow you to postpone leave. If you want a scheme that is less favourable to employees than the statutory scheme, you need to use a properly implemented workforce or collective agreement.
