Dismissal: Lack of Qualifications
If an employee lacks the qualifications for their position, this can be a fair reason for dismissing them. ‘Qualifications’ means any degree, diploma or other academic, technical or professional qualification relevant to the employee’s position. However, it is not automatically fair to dismiss for lack of qualifications: to avoid a claim of unfair dismissal you need to follow a fair procedure and act fairly and reasonably overall.
