Redundancy: Selection

Consider which employees do the work that is disappearing and identify the group of employees from which those who are to be made redundant will be selected. It is not always necessary to select from a pool, for example if an employee is carrying out a unique role that is disappearing.

When selecting from a pool, apply objective selection criteria such as individual performance, relevant experience, qualifications, and disciplinary records. The scoring process should be checked against personnel records and appraisals where possible.
