Redundancy: Alternative employment
A dismissal for redundancy may be unfair if you don’t consider alternative employment. You should look for an alternative role in both the employing company and any associated companies. You can make an offer of a job with new terms and conditions subject to a trial period of up to four weeks.
An employee loses their right to a statutory redundancy payment if they unreasonably refuse any offer of suitable alternative employment.
All employees with at least two years’ continuous service who have been given notice of dismissal by reason of redundancy have a right to take a reasonable amount of paid time off during working hours to seek alternative employment or to arrange training for future employment.
